International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC)

The "International Cyanide Management Code for the Manufacture, Transport, and Use of Cyanide in the Production of Gold" (ICMC) was developed by a multi-stakeholder steering committee under the guidance of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the International Council on Metals and the Environment (ICME). The Code is an industry voluntary program and the objective is to improve the management of cyanide used in gold and silver mining and assist in the protection of human health and the reduction of environmental impact.

CyPlus was a member of the multi-stakeholder steering committee and the first company worldwide that successfully performed a pre-audit based on the ICMC questionnaire. In June 2018, CyPlus GmbH's Wesseling cyanide plant passed its fifth certification in accordance with the ICMC. Our Joint Venture in Coatzacoalcos/Mexico – CyPlus Idesa S.A.P.I de C.V. – holds its own certification achieved in 2017. Passing the audits is proof that CyPlus meets the comprehensive, stringent requirements of the ICMC for cyanide producers. Furthermore, CyPlus fulfils the requirements of the ICMC as a consignor for cyanides on defined transport routes and holds ICMC certifications for several supply chains worldwide.

With these ICMC certification activities, CyPlus demonstrates the commitment to our customers to be a reliable and experienced partner worldwide for the gold and silver mining industry in supplying cyanides as well as technologies and services.
